Privacy Policy

Compress File Storage ("the app") scans the media on your device, suggests files you can compress to free up storage, and compresses them while preserving each file's original date (and, for photos, the full EXIF data). This policy explains how your data is handled.
Your files stay on your device
All scanning and compression happen on your device. Your photos, videos and audio files are never uploaded to us or any third party. Compressed outputs are saved only to your device's own storage.
We never delete your files without you
When the app compresses a file it keeps both the original and the compressed copy. Nothing is deleted automatically. You decide later whether to keep the original, the compressed version, or both. Any deletion goes through an in-app Trash and is reversible for a period you control.
Data we collect
The app does not collect or transmit your personal information or media off your device for its core scanning and compression features.
Ads and purchases
The free version of the app shows ads served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure these ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares your device's advertising ID (and related device information) with Google for advertising purposes. This advertising ID is the only data the app collects or shares — your media and files are never uploaded. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings. Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), the app shows a consent form for personalized ads.
A one-time "Pro" in-app purchase removes all ads. For users who buy Pro, the app does not show ads or collect the advertising ID. Purchases are handled by Google Play — we never receive your payment details.
Permissions
- Photos & media access (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / VIDEO / AUDIO) — to scan your library so we can find files worth compressing. You can grant access to all media or only selected items.
- Manage / delete confirmation — when you choose to delete or replace a file, Android shows its own confirmation; the app never deletes media silently.
- Notifications — to show scan and compression progress.
- Foreground service — to keep compressing while the app is in the background.
- Advertising ID (AD_ID) — used by Google AdMob to show ads in the free version. Not used for users who purchase Pro.
- Billing — to offer the optional one-time "Pro" purchase via Google Play.
Optional diagnostics
The current version does not collect crash or error diagnostics. A future version may add an optional setting (off by default) to send anonymized crash and error reports to help us fix problems; if added, such reports would never include your media, file names or personal identifiers, and you could turn the setting off at any time. We will update this policy before enabling any such feature.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before any change to how data is handled goes live.
